Our luxury bothy,’The Secret Studio’, nestled against the beautiful bluebell wood of Senwick and set on the banks of our wee lochan. Here you can relax in the peaceful surroundings of the beautiful Galloway countryside on our traditional livestock farm and alpaca trekking centre. Using sustainable building materials and solar powered electric we have worked with our architects to create a sustainable space which sits as one within its natural surroundings. The studio has been designed to reflect our belief in working with nature but this does not mean that you have to compromise on the little luxuries!
Curl up in from of our cosy log burner, enjoy a relaxing bath with its own private window onto the lochan or lie in our spacious custom made bed watching the stars through the secret sky light! Every detail has been thought of to make this a unique and exciting place to stay!
Switch-Off: There is NO Wi-Fi, mobile signal/4G depends on your carrier, but it is a better idea is to tell your colleagues that you are out of range and enjoy a digital detox– its good for your soul! Better than that we have is books, cards, games, and a radio to keep you entertained. USB power sockets only.
Cooking up a Storm: There is a small gas stove with kettle, caffetiere, expresso maker (if you need your morning shot!) along with complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and milk. We have a small fridge powered by our solar panels. All the cooking utensils, pots and pans you would expect are provided along with all dining equipment. Outside BBQ on our BONFIre fire pit. We are on mains water which being in Scotland is of course safe for drinking!
Our light and airy converted shipping container is simply an incredible place to unwind, in keeping with our green ethos The Pheasants Nest has been re-purposed to create a beautiful and unique space in which to relax and escape the rigours of modern life. Once you’ve walked through the grass paddock to where the Pheasants Nest sits you’re in a world of your own, with only sheep and other wildlife for company.
With stunning panoramic views over to the Cumbrian coast and the Galloway Hills. There’s also plenty to explore beyond the the farm from beaches, coves, countryside walks and woodland to pretty Galloway towns and villages waiting to be enjoyed.
The interior is fresh and bright drawing inspiration from the flora and Forna in the surrounding field. The large bi-fold doors look out over the Solway to the Cumbrian coast beyond making for some spectacular views and dramatic skies. When night begins to fall sit out on the patio, light the fire pit, throw a steak on the grill and watch the sun go down behind the Galloway Hills.
In the summer throw open the double bi-fold doors and let the outside in. In the cooler months the electric heating will keep you toasty and cosy, curl up with a book or simply watch the world outside the window. With no wi-fii or t.v this is a space designed to get away from it all, set aside the pressures of modern life, a truly restful space with relaxation in mind.
The kitchen is fully equipped with an under-counter fridge, hob, microwave electric kettle and toaster along with all the crockery and cooking equipment that you would expect. If you are dining alfresco the generous fire pit includes a swing-arm grill for cooking up a BBQ feast!
Please note: There is a short walk to both accommodations from their respective carpark areas. The Pheasants Nest is along a gentle incline from the car park space to the accommodation through a grass paddock so sensible covered/waterproof shoes are recommended. If arriving after dark please bring a torch for the short 2/3 minute walk as there are no lights in the field. The Secret Studio is accessed along a stone pathway through a grass field so torch light will be needed after dark again flat shoes are advised.
